Marion was wanted for absconding from parole on multiple charges, prompting a SWAT response as authorities believed he was in possession of a firearm.
According to the DCSO, teams spotted Marion leave a South Omaha residence as SWAT teams were preparing to service a warrant at the home.
As additional teams went to intercept Marion, “an exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in a SOG deputy sustaining a single gunshot wound to the right leg and [Marion] sustaining fatal gunshot wounds,” a DCSO release stated Friday.
The deputy injured in the shooting, who was taken to the hospital in a law enforcement vehicle after the shooting, has not yet been identified.
The shooting involved five deputies, including the injured deputy. All have been placed on administrative leave per office policy as the investigation continues.
