He fought two of the world\u2019s most valuable and powerful companies almost all the way to the US Supreme Court, insulting them again and again: \u201ccrooked,\u201d \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.windowscentral.com\/microsoft\/googles-statement-is-deceitful-shame-on-them-epic-ceo-tim-sweeney-lays-the-smackdown-on-google-after-its-new-statement-that-microsoft-was-always-able-to-offer-an-xbox-store-on-android\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">deceitful<\/a>,\u201d \u201cinsanely sneaky,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/policy\/866152\/how-did-you-get-from-that-to-being-willing-to-do-a-business-deal-with-the-fake-open-platform-people\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">calling Android<\/a> a \u201cfake open platform,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/04\/02\/epic-games-ceo-calls-apple-and-google-gangster-style-businesses-in-need-of-competition\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">calling both companies<\/a> \u201cgangster-style businesses that will do anything they think they can get away with,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/23996474\/epic-tim-sweeney-interview-win-google-antitrust-lawsuit-district-court\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">telling me how<\/a> Google\u2019s Project Hug was \u201can astonishingly corrupt effort at a massive scale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">On March 3rd, he not only signed away Epic\u2019s rights to sue and disparage the company, he signed away his right to advocate for any further changes to Google\u2019s app store polices. He can\u2019t criticize Google\u2019s app store practices. In fact, he has to praise them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The contract states that \u201cEpic believes that the Google and Android platform, with the changes in this term sheet, are procompetitive and a model for app store \/ platform operations, and will make good faith efforts to advocate for the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">He may even have to appear in other courts around the world to defend this deal with Google, and Google gets to make sure his public statements are supportive of the deal from here on out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">You can take a peek at the relevant sections of the term sheet above, and Sweeney\u2019s digital signature. According to the signed document, it will expire five years after Google\u2019s done making the last of its changes to its service fees.
