Stephen Colbert sounded off on Donald Trump\u2019s new poll numbers, which showed that over 22% of Americans \u201cstrongly approve\u201d of the president, leaving the late night host baffled.<\/p>\n

During Tuesday\u2019s monologue for \u201cThe Late Show,\u201d Colbert bemoaned high gas prices amid Trump\u2019s Iran War and suggested that he\u2019s not the only one frustrated right now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that Trump is ruining everything all the time has not helped his popularity,\u201d the comedian noted. \u201cAccording to a new UMass, YouGov, you spin me right round baby right round poll, his approval rating has sunk to 33%.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThat\u2019s only one out of every three people. To put that into perspective, turn to your right. Now turn to your left. Both of those people are more popular than Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Colbert went on, he noted that Trump\u2019s other polls number were looking bleak, given, on average, 47.2% of Americans \u201cstrongly disapprove\u201d of the president. Yet, Colbert was taken aback to learn that \u201cthere are still 22.4% who strongly approve of him.\u201d<\/p>\n

At this moment, Colbert spoke directly into the \u201cLate Show\u201d camera, bluntly asking, \u201cWho are you?!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I want gas to be expensive,\u201d the comedian stated while doing his take on a MAGA supporter. \u201cI want the Kennedy Center blowed up. And I know this is a pipe dream, but is there any way that maybe maybe we could get Denmark to hate us? \u2018Cause, I would just love it if the price of licorice went up, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Per Colbert, these poor poll numbers \u201cmight be spooking Trump,\u201d as the president \u2014 per the Wall Street Journal \u2014 is reportedly \u201cwilling to end the U.S. military campaign in Iran, even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump is set to give an update on the conflict in Iran Wednesday evening. Though, it\u2019s unclear what exactly the president will be sharing in his address to the nation.<\/p>\n
