Former Representative\u00a0Katie Porter\u00a0resorted to name-calling during a heated exchange at the California gubernatorial debate <\/a>hosted by\u00a0CNN Tuesday.<\/p>\n

During the debate, her Republican counterparts,\u00a0Steve Hilton\u00a0and\u00a0Sheriff Chad Bianco<\/a>, criticized the former congresswoman for her temperament, referencing a resurfaced video from last year that showed her clashing with an employee.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe that, on a stage with 30 minutes of interrupting and bickering and name-calling and shouting and disrespect for everyone up here who\u2019s stepping into public service, that anyone wants to talk about my temperament,\u201d Porter said.<\/p>\n

She then referred to Bianco, the sheriff of Riverside County<\/a>, as a \u201ccupcake.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou were actually interrupting them, too,\u201d Bianco fired back. \u201cI don\u2019t know why you want to act like you weren\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cSteve and I sat here smiling at each other because we\u2019re just watching you all prove to everyone why they can\u2019t vote for a Democrat,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The former representative from Orange County<\/a> faced criticism in October 2025 after a tense interview with\u00a0CBS News\u00a0reporter\u00a0Julie Watts, during which she pushed back on questions about appealing to voters who supported\u00a0President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

As the exchange grew heated, Porter raised her hands and said the questioning had become \u201cunnecessarily argumentative,\u201d adding, \u201cI don\u2019t want to keep doing this. I\u2019m going to call it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The moment gained renewed attention alongside separate resurfaced footage showing Porter snapping at a staffer during a recorded meeting, telling them, \u201cGet out of my f\u2013king shot,\u201d further fueling debate over her on-camera demeanor.<\/p>\n
