President Donald Trump<\/a> has invited executives from some of the biggest U.S. companies \u2014 including Tesla<\/a> CEO Elon Musk<\/a>, Apple<\/a> CEO Tim Cook<\/a>, BlackRock’s<\/a> CEO Larry Fink<\/a> and Boeing<\/a> CEO Kelly Ortberg<\/a> \u2014 to join his trip<\/a> to China<\/a> this week, according to a White House<\/a> official.<\/p>\n Also expected to join Trump’s delegation for meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping<\/a> are Blackstone’s<\/a> Stephen Schwarzman, Cargill’s<\/a> Brian Sikes, Citigroup’s<\/a> Jane Fraser, Coherent’s<\/a> Jim Anderson, GE Aerospace’s<\/a> H. Lawrence Culp Jr., Goldman Sachs’s<\/a> David Solomon, Illumina’s<\/a> Jacob Thaysen, Mastercard’s<\/a> Michael Miebach, Meta Platforms<\/a> executive Dina Powell McCormick, Micron<\/a> Technology’s<\/a> Sanjay Mehrotra, Qualcomm’s<\/a> Cristiano Amon and Visa’s<\/a> Ryan McInerney, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the list has not been announced.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Cisco<\/a> said CEO Chuck Robbins had been invited by the White House to join the trip but is unable to attend due to the company’s earnings schedule.<\/p>\n The executives will join Trump on the trip during which he has said he hopes to secure a series of business deals and purchase agreements with Beijing.<\/p>\n The summit agenda is expected to cover<\/a> trade<\/a>, artificial intelligence<\/a>, export controls, Taiwan and the Iran war, with both sides entering the talks after weeks of escalating tensions. <\/p>\n Notably absent from the attendees is Nvidia<\/a> CEO Jensen Huang<\/a> who last week in an interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer<\/a> that “We should let the president announce whatever he decides to announce … If invited, it would be a privilege, \u200bit would be a great honor to represent the United States.”<\/p>\n General Motors<\/a>, Disney<\/a> and Alphabet<\/a> are also companies with interests in China that the White House did not list as having executives expected to attend.<\/p>\n On Friday Citigroup’s Fraser<\/a>\u00a0told CNBC’s Leslie Picker that “I think it’s very important to see engagement” between the two economic superpowers.” Adding, “we all need that engagement to be occurring.”<\/p>\n
