\n\tJimmy Kimmel<\/a>, in a tip of the cap to Stephen Colbert<\/a>, will air a repeat of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d on May 21 \u2014 the date of Colbert\u2019s final late-night show on CBS, ending his 11-season run on the network.<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel\u2019s timeslot for next Thursday, May 21, will have a rerun after new episodes air earlier that week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), ABC confirmed. Kimmel is doing so \u201cout of deference to Colbert\u2019s sendoff,\u201d per news site LateNighter<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel did the same thing in May 2015 for David Letterman\u2019s final show on CBS\u2019s \u201cThe Late Show.\u201d<\/a> Variety has reached out to Kimmel\u2019s reps for comment. <\/p>\n

\n\tOn Monday, May 11, Kimmel will be a guest on \u201cThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert\u201d alongside NBC\u2019s Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers and HBO\u2019s John Oliver<\/a>. That lineup will reprise the late-night team behind \u201cStrike Force Five,\u201d<\/a> the podcast the five hosts ran during the concurrent Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023. Proceeds from that podcast went toward supporting the crew members of their respective shows as they went without pay because of the work stoppage.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition, on Thursday, May 14, Letterman is set to be Colbert\u2019s guest. After hosting \u201cLate Night\u201d on NBC from 1982 to 1993, Letterman moved to CBS and continued hosting \u201cThe Late Show\u201d until handing the reins to Colbert upon retirement in 2015.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther guests stopping by \u201cThe Late Show\u201d in its final days include John Krasinski, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Pedro Pascal and Tom Hanks. The show will also feature several special segments in upcoming episodes: \u201cKids Pitch\u201d with Jenny Slate, Liam Neeson, John Oliver, Isa Briones, Taylor Dearden and The Avett Brothers; a Broadway performance featuring Annaleigh Ashford, Christopher Jackson, Bernadette Peters, Ben Platt and Patrick Wilson; a \u201cColbert Questionert\u201d taken by Barack Obama; and a performance by The Strokes.<\/p>\n

\n\tNews of CBS\u2019s cancellation of \u201cThe Late Show\u201d<\/a> broke in July 2025. Though the network said it was \u201cpurely a financial decision,\u201d many prominent figures called it an act of censorship as the move came during a period when parent company Paramount Global was seeking approval from Donald Trump\u2019s FCC for its sale to Skydance Media. Colbert is a frequent critic of Trump, and Trump has repeatedly celebrated the show\u2019s cancellation.<\/p>\n

\n\tLetterman in particular has been a vocal critic of CBS\u2019s decision, calling the network \u201clying weasels\u201d<\/a> in an interview last week with the New York Times: \u201cHe was dumped because the people selling the network to Skydance said, \u2018Oh no, there\u2019s not going to be any trouble with that guy. We\u2019re going to take care of the show. We\u2019re just going to throw that into the deal. When will the ink on the check dry?\u2019 I\u2019m just going to go on record as saying: They\u2019re lying. Let me just add one other thing, Jason.
