(KOLN) &#8211; Nebraska\u2019s primary election Tuesday narrowed the field of candidates heading into the general election on Nov. 3.<\/p>\n<p>Governor<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Incumbent Gov. Jim Pillen won the Republican nomination for governor, while former state Sen. Lynne Walz won the Democratic nomination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cNebraska deserves a governor who understands the challenges families are facing every day \u2014 rising costs, high property taxes, workforce shortages, and the need to keep young people in our state,\u201d Walz said. \u201cThis campaign is about building a stronger future for every corner of Nebraska.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Senate<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Incumbent U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Cindy Burbank won the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cTonight\u2019s victory is a clear message: Nebraskans want leaders who deliver. I\u2019ve fought to keep our communities safe, put more money in your pockets, and stand firm against Communist China,\u201d Ricketts said. \u201cThe job isn\u2019t done. I\u2019ve delivered for Nebraska, and I\u2019ll keep fighting to deliver safe communities, bigger paychecks, and a stronger America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. House<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Chris Backemeyer won the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in Nebraska\u2019s 1st Congressional District. Backemeyer will face incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Flood, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhile Washington is gridlocked, I am getting things done: passing bipartisan legislation to lower housing costs, supporting the largest tax cut in American history, and delivering more than $100 million in federal funding back to Nebraska,\u201d Flood said. \u201cI\u2019m honored to be the Republican nominee for Nebraska\u2019s First Congressional District, and I look forward to once again earning the trust of Nebraskans this November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Adrian Smith won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Nebraska\u2019s 3rd Congressional District.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary of State<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Scott Petersen defeated incumbent Bob Evnen in GOP Primary for Secretary of State.
