He was 59.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-ac37hb evys1bk0\">Mr. Base had cancer, according to a <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYp7wbCh7vH\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-ac37hb evys1bk0\">Mr. Base\u2019s hit song, \u201cIt Takes Two,\u201d with DJ E-Z Rock, came out in 1988 and was <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-lists\/best-songs-of-all-time-1224767\/aretha-franklin-say-a-little-prayer-1225221\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">featured<\/a> as one of Rolling Stone\u2019s 500 best songs of all time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-ac37hb evys1bk0\">\u201cThe 1988 tune remains the single greatest use of a looped drum break in rap history,\u201d the magazine <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/best-of-88-how-rob-base-and-dj-e-z-rocks-it-takes-two-became-an-overnight-smash-700952\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">wrote<\/a> in 2018.
