The opening weekend totals beat box office analysts\u2019 expectations of about $40 million to $50 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisclosure Day\u201d is Spielberg\u2019s <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/movies\/story\/2026-06-11\/steven-spielberg-space-aliens-disclosure-day-close-encounters-et-extra-terrestrial-war-worlds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">latest alien-centric movie<\/a> that charts a desperate race to show the world the truth about extraterrestrials.<\/p>\n<p>The film, which had a production budget of about $115 million, was also scored by legendary composer and longtime Spielberg collaborator John Williams, who is now 94 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Spielberg described the film in April as \u201cway closer to truth than fiction\u201d during a speech at the CinemaCon trade convention in Las Vegas.
