{"id":64439,"date":"2026-08-12T14:26:23","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T14:26:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/64439\/"},"modified":"2026-08-12T14:26:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T14:26:23","slug":"coreweaves-stock-jumps-18-after-a-cleaner-quarter-heres-why","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/64439\/","title":{"rendered":"CoreWeave&#8217;s stock jumps 18% after a &#8216;cleaner quarter&#8217;\u2014 here&#8217;s why"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"InlineVideo-videoThumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/108348439-17865415291786541526-47726316888-1080pnbcnews.jpg\" alt=\"CoreWeave CEO: Older generations of GPUs will have a longer useful life than anticipated\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Artificial intelligence neocloud <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/CRWV\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CoreWeave<\/a> saw shares pop 18% on Wednesday after reporting that its second-quarter revenue doubled, driven by surging demand from hyperscalers for AI compute capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The company, which rents out high-powered computing capacity needed to run and build AI, reported after the bell Tuesday that its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/08\/11\/coreweave-crwv-q2-earnings-report-2026.html?qsearchterm=coreweave\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">second-quarter revenue<\/a> came in at $2.6 billion, up 112% from $1.2 billion in the second quarter of 2025. It&#8217;s guiding for third-quarter revenue of between $3.4 billion and $3.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>But the company is still not profitable. Operating expenses for the quarter also more than doubled year-on-year and marginally exceeded revenue, per the results. CoreWeave was last seen up 19.9% in premarket trading. At Tuesday&#8217;s close, it was up 26% since the start of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Its revenue backlog for the quarter stands at $104 billion as of June 30, which doesn&#8217;t include $25 billion in new customer commitments for the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To put that in perspective, like $25 billion is virtually the size of our backlog a year ago, and so it gives you an idea of how much demand there is for our product and how much it&#8217;s growing,&#8221; CEO Michael Intrator told CNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Squawk on the Street&#8221; on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Stock Chart IconStock chart icon<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static-redesign.cnbcfm.com\/dist\/a54b41835a8b60db28c2.svg\" class=\"Collapsible-dismissButton\" alt=\"hide content\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Coreweave&#8217;s stock since the beginning of the year. <\/p>\n<p>In the earnings release, Intrator said the company had reached &#8220;an important inflection point&#8221; during the quarter.<\/p>\n<p>But CoreWeave has taken on significant debt as it races to build AI infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Operating expenses rose to $2.6 billion from $1.2 billion a year earlier. That left CoreWeave with an operating loss of $49 million, compared with operating income of $19 million a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p>For the full year, the company forecasts revenue of $12.4 billion to $13.2 billion and adjusted operating income of $960 million to $1.15 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Some of its second-quarter highlights include winning customers such as Bentley Systems, Grammarly, Isomorphic Labs, and Sunday Robotics.<\/p>\n<p>It also deepened major commercial partnerships with Jane Street, committing $1 billion in strategic investments, while Meta said it would spend an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/04\/09\/meta-commits-to-spending-additional-21-billion-with-coreweave-.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">additional $21 billion<\/a>\u00a0with CoreWeave during the quarter. <\/p>\n<p><a id=\"headline0\"\/>A &#8216;cleaner quarter&#8217; for CoreWeave <\/p>\n<p>Citi analysts said in a note Wednesday that CoreWeave &#8220;delivered a confident message&#8221; in the second quarter, demonstrating that AI demand was robust, it had stronger pricing power, saw growing demand for its software and tokens business, and posted better-than-expected margins.<\/p>\n<p>They added it was &#8220;one of the cleaner quarters&#8221; for CoreWeave since it went public last year. &#8220;We think shares should move meaningfully higher on increased investor confidence in the execution and improving profitability,&#8221; the analysts continued. <\/p>\n<p>They pointed to upward revisions to profitability guidance and positive updates on execution and customer and revenue diversification. <\/p>\n<p>The analysts said those developments were positive signs for demand across the hyperscaler and neo-cloud space.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"headline1\"\/>Neocloud boom<\/p>\n<p>Neoclouds \u2014 providers specializing in GPU infrastructure \u2014 like CoreWeave have seen big gains as a result of the AI boom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amsterdam-headquartered, Nasdaq-listed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NBIS\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nebius<\/a> ripped 20% higher on Wednesday after announcing a strong commercial quarter. Revenue grew 514% to $575 million, and the total value of contracts won quadrupled, the company said.
