Miley Cyrus joined the chorus of celebrities mourning the loss <\/a>of Dolly Parton, penning a heartfelt tribute to the transcendent country music star-humanitarian who was also her godmother. <\/p>\n

The Grammy-winning \u201cFlowers\u201d singer and \u201cHannah Montana\u201d star remembered her \u201cAunt Dolly\u201d on Wednesday in a remembrance posted to Instagram<\/a>. \u201cOur most sacred moments were private and they\u2019ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts,\u201d she wrote. Parton died Tuesday at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer<\/a> and a series of health issues. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side,\u201d Cyrus continued. \u201cI always have.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter, 33, told followers that one of the final conversations she had with the country music great and pop culture icon \u201cwas about music and metamorphosis.\u201d The pair long bonded over their love for music, sharing the stage during multiple high-profile performances including the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019 and Cyrus\u2019 2022 New Year\u2019s Eve Party special <\/a>on NBC. The duo also shared the screen in Disney Channel\u2019s \u201cHannah Montana,\u201d where Parton played the loving \u201cAunt Dolly\u201d to Miley\u2019s titular teenage pop star.<\/p>\n

\u201cHannah Montana\u201d also starred Cyrus\u2019 father, \u201cAchy Breaky Heart\u201d singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who was among the artists paying tribute to Parton on social media. Country music stars Reba McEntire, Sheryl Crow, Blake Shelton and Maren Morris have also remembered Parton on social media. <\/p>\n

Beyonc\u00e9, who featured Parton and covered the singer\u2019s hit \u201cJolene\u201d<\/a>on her country music album \u201cCowboy Carter,\u201d celebrated Parton as a trailblazer. <\/p>\n

I am grateful for your art, your heart, your generosity, your humor, your entrepreneurship,\u201d Beyonc\u00e9 wrote on her website<\/a>. \u201cI am honored that I had the privilege to work with you. Cyrus, who sang a duet with Beyonc\u00e9 on the Grammy-winning \u201cCowboy Carter\u201d track \u201cII Most Wanted,\u201d ended her farewell to her \u201cI Will Always Love You\u201d singer aunt with a familiar line. <\/p>\n

\u201cI will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply,\u201d Cyrus said. \u201cWe\u2019re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things.\u201d<\/p>\n
