Tropical Storm Dolly forms in Atlantic, NHC says<\/p>\n

Tropical Storm Dolly formed in the Atlantic on Thursday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.<\/a><\/p>\n

Dolly, previously designated Invest 96-L, is located about 1,555 miles east of the Leeward Islands. <\/p>\n

The NHC said Dolly is expected to be a short-lived tropical storm. It is not expected to impact Florida. <\/p>\n

Heavy rain from this system could begin to affect the Leeward Islands late Saturday into Sunday. However, the NHC expects Dolly to degenerate into a tropical wave before it reaches the islands.<\/p>\n

The system has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1007 mb, according to the NHC. <\/p>\n

Dolly is now the fourth named storm of the Atlantic season. The name is pure coincidence to the death of music icon Dolly Parton earlier this week. <\/p>\n
