{"id":71688,"date":"2026-08-29T07:01:27","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T07:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/71688\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T07:01:27","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T07:01:27","slug":"jolene-surges-after-dolly-partons-death-as-fans-stream-her-hits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/71688\/","title":{"rendered":"Jolene surges after Dolly Parton\u2019s death as fans stream her hits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Jolene&#8217; surges after Dolly Parton\u2019s death as fans stream her biggest hits<\/p>\n<p>Parton&#8217;s music dominates Spotify charts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/d9943604-1e42-4cc1-849c-c90b7f566d87_1742332781.png\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\" alt=\"Katrina Ventura\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>NEW YORK \u2014<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-dropcap\" data-node-id=\"0\">Music fans are rushing to stream Dolly Parton&#8217;s extensive catalog following the announcement of her death earlier this week, according to data on <a href=\"https:\/\/charts.spotify.com\/charts\/view\/regional-us-daily\/2026-08-26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Spotify Charts<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"1\">The Get the Facts Data team examined Spotify Chart data of daily top songs in the U.S. in the days after news of Dolly Parton&#8217;s death was announced on Aug. 25 and found an increase in streams of her greatest hits such as &#8220;Jolene,&#8221; &#8220;9 to 5&#8221; and &#8220;Islands in the Stream&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\">&#8220;Jolene&#8221; was the second most played track across the U.S. on Aug. 25 with 1.29 million streams. This was followed by &#8220;9 to 5,&#8221; which was number 3 that same day with 1.13 million streams.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">Dolly Parton&#8217;s music dominated the list of most streamed songs in the U.S. on Aug. 26.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"5\">&#8220;Jolene&#8221; later rose to the top spot on Spotify on Aug. 26 with 2.03 million streams. &#8220;I Will Always Love You&#8221; and &#8220;Coat of Many Colors&#8221; also reached the top 10, ranking 6 and 7 respectively.   <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"6\">Other songs by Dolly Parton also saw a spike in streams on Aug. 25, including recent song covers and collaborations. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"7\">The Get the Facts Data Team examined Spotify streaming data on the analytics tool <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mystreamcount.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MyStreamCount<\/a> of 30 of Dolly Parton&#8217;s greatest hits and found a 3,021% spike in streams overall.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"8\">The list includes recent collaborations with Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter and Brad Paisley. <\/p>\n<p>Which city had &#8216;Jolene&#8217; at the top of their Spotify list?<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text\" data-node-id=\"12\"> &#8220;Jolene&#8221; is the one Dolly Parton song that has consistently been on every U.S. city&#8217;s top song list for the week of Aug. 21 to 27, according to data from <a href=\"https:\/\/charts.spotify.com\/charts\/overview\/global\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Spotify Charts Weekly Top Songs<\/a>. But no city has shown the song more love than Nashville. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"13\">Dolly Parton\u2019s home base of Nashville, Tennessee, had \u201cJolene\u201d as its No. 2 streamed song on Spotify from Aug. 21 to 27.  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"15\">This was followed by New Orleans and Portland, which had &#8220;Jolene&#8221; as its No. 3 streamed song on Spotify for the week.
