{"id":74496,"date":"2026-09-04T12:58:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/74496\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T12:58:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:58:08","slug":"jobs-report-live-updates-us-adds-162000-jobs-in-august-blowing-past-estimates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/news\/74496\/","title":{"rendered":"Jobs report live updates: US adds 162,000 jobs in August, blowing past estimates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The AI boom is underway, and it&#8217;s leading to a stronger demand for the skilled workers needed to build out data centers, networks, and other infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/about\/homeroom-blog\/connecting-talent-opportunity-national-challenge-build-talent-marketplaces\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Department of Education<\/a>, roughly 2.1 million skilled trades jobs could go unfilled by 2030, resulting in a potential economic loss of $1 trillion annually.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Looking to fill the gap, Lowe&#8217;s nonprofit arm and a coalition of some of the major players playing key roles in the build-out announced a new program on Tuesday to train and develop 1 million people for skilled trades careers by 2035.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The other companies involved in the Building Futures Skilled Trades Coalition include Nvidia (<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NVDA\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NVDA<\/a>), AT&amp;T (<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/T\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">T<\/a>), Bank of America (<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/BAC\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BAC<\/a>), Carrier (<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/CARR\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CARR<\/a>), General Motors (<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/GM\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GM<\/a>), DeWalt, and Duke Energy (<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/DUK\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DUK<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;The next industrial revolution won&#8217;t be built by algorithms alone,&#8221; Lowe&#8217;s CEO Marvin Ellison said. &#8220;It will be built by the millions of skilled trade professionals who power, connect and move this country forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">According to data platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aterio.io\/insights\/us-data-centers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aterio<\/a>, there are over 7,000 data centers in various stages of operation, with roughly 2,000 in active use and 4,000 under construction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan said the ramp-up of skilled workers was &#8220;needed to strengthen local economies and help drive American prosperity and competitiveness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The hiring is already ramping up. In the latest ADP report for August, the US added 12,000 construction jobs. Hiring in construction has slowed year-over-year compared with the 16,000 jobs added last August, but from 2020 to 2025, construction employment outpaced overall job growth. <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">One source of skilled tradespeople could be young workers, as more high school seniors opt for two-year vocational schools.
