The \u201cshattered\u201d mother of a New York teen murdered near her Chicago university<\/a> vowed to get \u201cjustice\u201d for daughter \u2014 but refused to even acknowledge the migrant gunman accused of executing her in front of her friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are gonna get justice for Sheridan,\u201d said Jessica Gorman \u2014 the mother of slain 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman \u2014 outside the family\u2019s Yorktown Heights home on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a voice and it\u2019s gonna be heard,\u201d the grieving mom told The Post. \u201cWe are beyond shattered.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Jessica and the family decided to save their voices for Sheridan alone this week as they mourn and bury her.<\/p>\n

She wouldn\u2019t spare a single word for the Venezuelan migrant charged with<\/a> her murder, 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really focusing this week specifically on burying our daughter. We are really focusing on the beauty of her life,\u201d Jessica said. \u201cWe are not addressing this man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheridan\u2019s family \u2014 who previously described her as \u201cdeeply loving\u201d and \u201ceverybody\u2019s cheerleader\u201d \u2014 have been left gutted by her death.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they say that your heart is broken or it feels like it\u2019s ripped out of your chest, it\u2019s real,\u201d Jessica said through tears. \u201cIt\u2019s so real, I wouldn\u2019t wish this upon anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The teen was a devout Christian, a star bowler and high school athlete, and had been giddy to begin studying business at Loyola last fall.<\/p>\n

Jose Medina-Medina, 25, was arrested and accused of murder. He was let into the country in 2023. DHS<\/p>\n

\u201cWe decided this week we are only going to focus on Sheridan and celebrating our beauty.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheridan was killed Thursday around 1:30 a.m. near Chicago\u2019s Tobey Prinz Beach, where she and friends from school were trying to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when a masked man jumped out of the shadows and pulled out a gun, and when the group fled he fired a single shot that struck Sheridan in the head and killed her.<\/p>\n

Medina-Medina was quickly arrested after security cameras<\/a> caught the entire attack, and filmed him walking off into an apartment building where he was seen removing his mask.<\/p>\n

The suspect crossed the border illegally in May 2023 under former President Joe Biden, and was released into the country. He was then arrested for shoplifting from a Macy\u2019s in Chicago, but was let go under the city\u2019s sanctuary policies.<\/p>\n

Sheridan was thrilled to attend Loyola University in Chicago, where she began studying business last fall. Instagram \/ Sheridan Gorman<\/p>\n

\u201cSheridan Gorman had her whole life ahead of her before this cold-blooded killer decided to end her life,\u201d said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis after Medina-Medina\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

Even some Chicago democrats think the Biden administration bears the responsibility for Sheridan\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis young girl\u2019s blood is on Joe Biden and Kamala Harris\u2019s hands,\u201d Democratic Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cI agree with her family, this was 100 percent avoidable,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a culmination of all the bad choices and politics of this city and state that refuses to work with Homeland Security and immigrant enforcement when we have individuals who choose, choose to engage in criminal activity in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Medina-Medina was due in court Monday for a detention hearing, but it was cancelled after he was hospitalized so he could be treated for tuberculosis.<\/p>\n
