Rasmussen called on both Poulsen and Frederiksen to \u201cdrop the trench warfare\u201d after they spent much of the campaign attacking one another, despite serving in the coalition government together. \u201cCome down and join us. You\u2019re standing out by the corner flags; we\u2019re in the middle. Come and play with us,\u201d he said Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
But Poulsen has ruled out forming a government with Frederiksen again, instead making a plea to Rasmussen to help form a conservative government. <\/p>\n
After Denmark\u2019s last parliamentary election in 2022, it took 42 days to form a government, when the results were far more clear-cut than what was produced by Tuesday\u2019s vote.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Complicating the negotiations, the Red-Green Alliance \u2014 part of Frederiksen\u2019s red bloc \u2014 has said it won\u2019t join any government unless it\u2019s strictly left-leaning, which could mean shutting out Rasmussen and the Moderates. \u201cIf she wants to use our mandates, she must put forward a red government,\u201d said party leader Pelle Dragsted on Tuesday, after snagging 6.3 percent of the vote.\u00a0<\/p>\n
