LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) – With President Trump visiting Chippewa Falls, it’s garnering attention from many voters across the Badger State.
This includes the Coulee Region. Chairman of the Republican Party of Monroe County, Doug Rogalla, says it’s huge for the president to make a return to the state that helped secure his presidential victory.
“Two years ago about this time, President Trump was campaigning, and on Election Day, it was Wisconsin that carried him into the presidency. So every time President Trump comes to Wisconsin, it’s an exciting thing,” Rogalla says.
Meanwhile, Chair of the 3rd Congressional District Democrats of Wisconsin, William Garcia, says the president is visiting because Republicans are in trouble in Wisconsin.
“We’ve got a big election coming up for governor. We’ve got a big 3rd Congressional District race here for Congress. All of these people know that Republicans have not been delivering for the people of Wisconsin, so they’re coming here to try and shore up whatever support they can,” says Garcia.
Rogalla adds that the president coming to the Chippewa Valley shows his support for farmers in the state.
“He wants to hear from the farmers and understand, from their perspective, what the issues are that they’re facing. If the president of the United States thinks that agriculture and what farmers do is important, then we all should be doing that,” Rogalla says.
Garcia and others protesting Trump’s arrival outside Chippewa Valley Regional Airport believe Trump’s presidency has negatively impacted Wisconsin citizens when it comes to affordability.
“At every point, the Trump administration and Republicans have been making life more expensive for Wisconsinites—from the war in Iran, to the tariffs and the trade wars, to giving tax cuts to billionaires while cutting services for normal working Wisconsinites. Across the board, we are suffering because of the policies of Donald Trump,” Garcia says.
This stop marks President Trump’s first visit to the Badger State since his campaign events in 2024.
