Emails in the Epstein files show Cami Clark, wife of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, sought investment from Jeffrey Epstein for business ventures in 2011 and 2012, though there is no indication he invested
Cami Clark, an entrepreneur and the wife of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, is facing renewed scrutiny over her past business dealings with convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after emails from the Epstein files revealed her efforts to seek his investment. Clark approached Epstein in 2011 and 2012 to discuss ventures including a self-described “free luxury porn” company and a women’s health startup.
A Wall Street Journal report has also examined the exchanges, while the files contain no indication that Epstein invested in either business.
Clark, an entrepreneur who married Amodei in 2022, previously dated former Google chief Eric Schmidt. The Journal has described her as a “sounding board and strategic adviser” to Amodei and Anthropic.
Before marrying Amodei, Clark pursued several business ideas, including a “free luxury porn” company aimed at women and a “social dieting app”.
She first met Epstein in March 2011 through literary agent John Brockman, who knew the financier. Emails in the Epstein files show Brockman telling Epstein he “should connect for dinner with my girls”, referring to Clark and her business partner Michelle Capocefalo.
Clark replied to the introduction by writing, “We would love to have dinner with you this evening”. The following day, she emailed Epstein details of her company’s funding requirements and wrote, “It was FANTASTIC meeting you last night!”
More from WorldEmails reveal investment pitch
A few days after their initial meeting in March 2011, Clark sent Epstein the script and treatment for her company’s first films. She told him she thought Epstein “and the ladies” might enjoy them and described the material as “a little nsfw”.
The correspondence continued into March 2012, when Clark contacted Epstein to ask whether he would consider investing in businesses she and a colleague were developing. The Epstein files contain no indication that he ultimately invested.
The approach came years after Epstein was convicted in 2008 of soliciting prostitution and registered as a sex offender.
Clark discussed multiple business ideas
The March 2012 exchange is the longest conversation between Clark and Epstein found in the files. Epstein initially responded, “i’m sorry, who is this” after Clark contacted him and asked to introduce him to another female entrepreneur who was launching a lingerie line.
Clark reminded him that she ran the “free luxury porn company” and asked whether that “ring[s] a bell”. Epstein replied, “yes, a loud gong”.
“I was going to say, you would be the first person ever that didn’t remember us :),” Clark responded.
Clark then asked to meet Epstein in New York. He said he was in the Caribbean but was “willing to look at whatever you think viable”.
When Epstein asked what had happened to Clark’s plans for the porn company, she said they were moving “full speed ahead” and pitched an investment in the company’s move into video.
“Can’t do TV sex,” Epstein responded.
“I didn’t think so :),” Clark replied.
Clark also discussed her social dieting app and website, which she described as a service that collected data from health monitoring devices and turned it into infographics about users’ health. Users could then choose to share the information with friends.
The files do not make clear whether Epstein ever responded to that particular pitch.
Further contact after business discussions
Other emails in the Epstein files show Clark continuing to include Epstein on her email list. She invited him to a housewarming party in July 2012, while Epstein connected with her on LinkedIn in 2013.
The files contain no indication that Clark and Epstein met in person again.
What is known about Clark
There is limited public information about Clark beyond the details reported by the WSJ. The publication noted that even Anthropic’s AI model Claude cannot answer whether Amodei is married.
The WSJ also reported, citing an unnamed source, that there had been deliberate “efforts” to remove public references to Clark.
According to Forbes, Amodei’s net worth is $15.5 billion. That puts him ahead of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, whose net worth Forbes puts at $3.4 billion, although he remains far behind Grok leader Elon Musk, whose net worth Forbes values at $863.2 billion.
Anthropic’s planned IPO
The renewed attention on Clark comes as Anthropic prepares for a potential public listing as soon as this fall. The IPO could reportedly be valued at $2 trillion or more.
People linked to Epstein have faced increased scrutiny, with some called to testify before Congress. However, many high-profile figures associated with Epstein have never been accused of any wrongdoing.
