While the Amazon founder and wife Lauren Sanchez have already planted roots in the ultra-wealthy enclave, one coveted invitation remains out of reach.
For years, Jeff Bezos has been associated with access. However, at Indian Creek Country Club, one of the most exclusive clubs in South Florida, even the world’s third-richest person is being required to follow the same path as everyone else.
Recent reports revealed that Bezos and Sanchez have not yet been accepted into the prestigious club, located within the famously private Indian Creek Village.
However, sources insist there is no reason for alarm. According to insiders, the couple’s application is not being rejected outright. Instead, they are navigating a membership process known for moving at its own pace.
One source told Page Six, “No one is going to make it easy because he is Jeff Bezos. You have to go to mixers. You don’t just move there and think you can get in. For anyone.”

The membership delay comes despite Jeff Bezos making a massive commitment to the area.
Since 2023, he and Sanchez have assembled an extraordinary real estate portfolio on Indian Creek Island worth an estimated $234 million across three separate properties.
Often referred to as the “Billionaire Bunker,” the island sits between Bal Harbour and Miami Beach and has become a magnet for ultra-high-net-worth residents seeking privacy and security.
Indian Creek is remarkably small, with only about 41 residences. The gated community is protected by its own police force and is known for offering a level of discretion that appeals to some of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
While ownership on the island places the 62-year-old among the area’s elite residents, it does not automatically translate into club membership.
The country club accepts both residents and non-residents, but insiders say the process is deliberately selective.

Although Bezos and Sanchez have already begun mingling with local residents, insiders suggest that building trust inside Indian Creek takes considerably more effort than attending a single social event.
The duo reportedly attended the community’s annual dock party earlier this year, giving them an opportunity to meet existing members. However, sources familiar with the club’s culture say that was only the beginning.
“People need to know them,” one source explained. Unlike many celebrity-heavy neighborhoods, Indian Creek residents are known for keeping to themselves.
According to previous reports, neighbors do not engage in much spontaneous socializing, making personal relationships especially important.
The club is also known for having what insiders describe as a “slow process” for prospective members. While some high-profile residents have successfully joined, acceptance typically follows years of involvement and relationship-building.
Tom Brady, for example, appeared to gain entry quickly after purchasing property on the island. However, sources say his acceptance came after he had already spent significant time engaged with the club and its membership process.
As one insider put it, “There aren’t that many golf clubs [in Miami], and there is huge demand. It’s very hard to get into any of them, but Indian Creek is the hardest.”

Long before the billionaire began navigating the membership process, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump reportedly faced similar challenges after moving into the ultra-exclusive enclave.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the couple initially struggled to gain traction despite receiving support from well-connected residents.
Mary Anne Shula, the widow of Miami Dolphins legend Don Shula, reportedly hosted a cocktail party to introduce them to club leadership.
However, when Kushner and Trump later hosted a gathering of their own, only about half of the club’s board members attended, leading many to conclude that membership was still far from certain.
Rather than giving up, Kushner reportedly spent years becoming more involved in the community. He later served on the village council and played a role in discussions surrounding improvements to the island’s aging sewage infrastructure, an issue that had frustrated residents for years.
His growing involvement appears to have changed perceptions among some members. According to the report, Kushner and Trump are now considered to be “edging ever closer” to gaining membership.
