European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will meet next week in Brussels with NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, the spokesperson of the commission Paula Pinho said.
Pinho, at a briefing in Brussels, made it clear that the meeting with Grynkewich will take place on Tuesday, April 14, while Von der Leyen will hold talks with Rutte on April 15, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
“I will not speculate on what will be discussed at the meeting, but it should be seen in the context of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the opportunity to hear directly from the NATO Secretary-General about his visit to the White House,” she noted.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary-General Rutte is on a visit to the United States, where he has already met with US President Donald Trump, who reportedly expressed frustration with allies over a lack of support for the US military operation against Iran.
The US leader expressed frustration over what he described as a lack of NATO allies’ support during the war against Iran.
“NATO WASN’T THERE WHEN WE NEEDED THEM, AND THEY WON’T BE THERE IF WE NEED THEM AGAIN,” Trump said earlier.
