WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – With November 3rd weeks away, a first-of-its-kind gathering is happening in Dallas this week: the first midterm convention in modern American history.
Political parties typically hold conventions during presidential elections to conduct official business and formally nominate a candidate. This week’s RNC Midterm Convention is instead focused on voter mobilization, with speakers including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance energizing party members ahead of the midterm elections.
November’s election will determine control of Congress, with Democrats looking to flip the majority back to blue.
President Trump will deliver remarks on the opening night of the convention Wednesday, along with closing remarks on the convention’s second and final night. The Vice President will headline night two.
Meanwhile, Friday marks a day of remembrance across the nation as Americans gather to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Ceremonies will take place at the 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at the crash site and memorial of United Flight 93.
Vice President Vance and all remaining former presidents are expected to attend the larger ceremony in New York.
President Trump said he will mark the anniversary at the Pentagon.
