— SPACEX & COASTAL RESTORATION: Via The Advocate: “A plan to build what may be the world’s largest spaceport would be supremely ambitious for any location. But in the marshes of south Louisiana, where a football field of land disappears every 100 minutes, Elon Musk’s grand vision for SpaceX will be confronted with unique challenges. On top of the technical considerations of building what Musk calls Starbase Louisiana near Pecan Island, coastal restoration groups will be watching closely to see how the project fits into the state’s long struggle against land loss.”

— LSU & THE NFL: Via ESPN: “After a nearly two-week showdown with the SEC, LSU has decided to hold off on adding tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris to its roster ahead of its season opener against Clemson. A Louisiana judge granted the former NFL rookies an injunction on Thursday, but coach Lane Kiffin and the school decided against adding them to the 105-man roster they submitted Friday while they continue to sort through the potential ramifications of letting them play at LSU.”

— MAYOR RELEASED FROM JAIL: Via The Guardian: “The former Louisiana mayor Misty Roberts has completed the 90-day jail sentence she received for raping a 16-year-old boy while still in elected office and been released from custody, according to state corrections records.”

— NO LABOR PICNIC: Via Fox 8: “Hundreds of union workers and members of their family turned out for Big Labor’s annual Labor Day picnic in City Park. And dozens of politicians currently in office and those seeking office showed up at the event.”

— TELEHEALTH ABORTIONS CASE: Via Stateline: “(This week), the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals will consider Louisiana’s arguments for tightening federal policy around a common abortion and miscarriage drug. The primary target of Louisiana v. Food and Drug Administration and similar lawsuits against mifepristone is to end a Biden-era policy allowing abortion pills to be prescribed without an in-person visit with a provider.”
