Republican requesting probe into Russian oligarch who helped fund Trump Jr.’s wedding party
Sen. John Curtis of Utah has requested that the Senate Judiciary Committee investigate Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden over alleged financial dealings tied to their connections to the presidency.

Sen. John Curtis, a Republican from Utah, is calling for the Senate Judiciary Committee to investigate Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden over concerns about their financial dealings and relationships with foreign individuals.
Curtis sent a letter requesting the committee subpoena Trump Jr. to examine his business dealings, connections with foreign individuals and benefits he may have received.
The request follows Trump Jr.’s recent wedding celebration, which he and his wife confirmed on Instagram was partially funded by Umar Kremlev, a Russian oligarch with close ties to President Vladimir Putin. The post described Kremlev as a “dear friend” who “very generously hosted two incredible nights of celebrations for us AFTER our wedding.”
On Friday, President Donald Trump, who did not attend the wedding, defended Kremlev’s involvement, saying this is a common gesture.
“I’ve given wedding parties for numerous people. They get married, I give them a party. I give them parties at beautiful places like Mar-a-Lago and others,” Trump said. “With all of that being said, I understand that Don’s paid them back.”
Curtis is also calling for scrutiny of Biden, who has been investigated over whether he used his father’s name and political position to benefit his dealings with foreign interests. The Biden family has denied any wrongdoing.
A spokesperson for the Senate Judiciary Committee said a hearing before the end of the year on this matter would be very difficult given the Senate’s schedule, adding that such investigations typically take months, if not years.
