Elon Musk is reportedly being considered for a Paramount-Warner Bros. mega-merger deal. Paramount CEO David Ellison has reportedly considered Musk one of several individuals who could become equity investors. The tech billionaire could become part of one of the biggest deals in the entertainment industry.

David Ellison is reportedly considering Elon Musk as a potential equity investor in a merged Paramount-Warner Bros

David Ellison is seeking additional capital as the Paramount-Warner Bros. mega-deal moves forward. Paramount executives have reportedly suggested Elon Musk’s name as an equity investor. According to Semafor, David Ellison’s father, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, has helped make the deal possible. Larry reportedly provided a personal guarantee for more than $46.7 billion in equity. Elon Musk and Larry Ellison have been close in the business world, and Ellison invested $1 billion in Musk’s X deal to take Twitter private.

Musk’s potential investment could make him part of the financing behind Paramount’s Warner Bros. Discovery takeover. However, the amount of equity Paramount would seek from Musk remains unclear. According to the source, “Musk’s name is one of a number of wealthy individuals that Paramount CEO David Ellison has considered tapping for the syndicate.”

According to Variety, Paramount’s deal with Warner Bros. Discovery moved closer to completion after the company settled with 12 state attorneys general in the antitrust lawsuit.

Paramount’s financing includes $46.7 billion from Larry and $24 billion in commitments from the sovereign wealth funds of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The three Middle Eastern funds are expected to hold a combined equity stake of 38.5%. Apart from the settlement, Paramount is reportedly prohibited from selling the Paramount Studios or Warner Bros. lots in the U.S. The proposed merger would bring Paramount’s streaming assets together with Warner Bros. Discovery’s portfolio, including CNN, HBO, DC Entertainment, Cartoon Network, and Warner Bros. The film production and streaming assets would therefore be combined under one corporation.

Elon Musk’s potential investment comes as Paramount Skydance secures the financing needed to complete the acquisition.
