Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s conservative bloc has slipped further in a new poll, with just 19% of respondents saying they would vote for the CDU/CSU.
The figure in the RTL/ntv Trendbarometer released on Tuesday is one percentage point lower than a week ago.
The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) also lost one point but remains the strongest party overall at 26%.
The Greens slipped one point to 16%, while the centre-left SPD gained two points to reach 14%. The hard-left Left Party remained unchanged at 12%, the liberal FDP at 4% and the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) at 3%.
Merz’s personal rating remains low, with just 11% of respondents expressing satisfaction with his performance, against 87% saying they are dissatisfied.
The Trendbarometer is based on representative surveys conducted by the Forsa polling agency. Forsa surveyed 2,501 people between September 22 and 28. The institute puts the margin of error at approximately plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
Figures from polling institute Insa show a similar picture. In its weekly opinion trend, the CDU/CSU is also currently at 19%, with the AfD on 29.5%.
The SPD and Greens are tied at 14.5%, and the Left Party is on 10%. Insa surveyed 2,001 respondents between September 25 and 28. The institute puts the margin of error at approximately plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
