Ivanka Trump broke down in tears while remembering her late mother, Ivana Trump, revealing that she sought mental health help after her sudden death.

“It’s very challenging. Losing a parent, it hits different especially unexpectedly, especially sort of post-Covid, which, like, kind of robbed so many of us of so many years,” Ivanka, 44, said during her Thursday, April 9, appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast.

Ivanka went on to explain that following her mother’s death in 2022, and her husband, Jared Kushner, being diagnosed with thyroid cancer, she decided to seek therapy for the first time in her life.

“Our life was in flux,” she explained. “I’m really good at being tough and I’m really good at compartmentalizing. So it was more just like a check with myself that I was also taking time to like, you know, sort of look inward and nurture myself.”

Ivana — who was married to President Donald Trump from 1977 to 1990 — was found dead inside her New York City apartment on July 14, 2022. According to The New York City Medical Examiner, Ivana died from blunt impact injuries after falling down the stairs.

“My mother was an incredible trailblazer, an amazing example for me of strength and resilience and glamour and determination and ambition. And she was a great mother, too,” Ivanka recalled. “She showed me a lot at a time when not many women were doing what my mother was doing inside the boardroom and on the construction sites all the time, by the way with five-inch heels and like perfectly cocked hair.”

“My mother served as an unbelievable role model for me for what is possible,” Ivanka added. “How to be an amazing mother who is loving and nurturing and fun and provides for her children and also to be unabashedly and doggedly pursuing one’s goals in a professional capacity.”

The mother of three, who shares daughter Arabella, 14, and sons Joseph, 12, and Theodore, 10, with Kushner, added that she regrets that her children “sadly didn’t get to know” their grandmother.
