Trump says the US will extend its ceasefire with Iran at Pakistan’s request
President Trump told the New York Post on Monday that Vice President JD Vance was already on his way to Pakistan, thousands of miles away, when his motorcade was actually spotted at the White House. Now, according to Axios, the Vice President is scheduled to leave for Pakistan this morning. This is the same day the ceasefire agreement expires at exactly 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. In *** phone interview with PBS News on Monday, the president said if the agreement ends without *** deal, quote, then lots of bombs start going off. He also told Bloomberg he’s highly unlikely to extend the ceasefire again. Meanwhile, throughout this 7.5 week war, President Trump has offered mixed messages about *** path forward. On social media yesterday, he denied claims he’s under pressure to make *** deal, but expressed optimism that it will happen. Relatively quickly at the moment it is unclear if Iran will even show up for the second round of talks after Iran’s chief negotiator said they will not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats, and Iranian state TV says no delegation has left for Pakistan. Now the president also told PBS that the US is negotiating to ensure that Iran cannot get *** nuclear weapon, but with all of this back and forth, it’s unclear if the US will be able to get that done in *** short amount of time. President Donald Trump says the United States is extending its ceasefire with Iran at Pakistan’s request as he waits for a unified proposal from the Islamic Republic. The president said Tuesday he’s making the move at Pakistan’s request as he waits for a “unified proposal” from the Islamic Republic, but that the U.S. military will continue it’s blockade of Iranian ports.Trump added that “he’s directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other.”The president made the move even as the White House has put on hold Vice President JD Vance’s expected trip to Islamabad for a second round of talks as Tehran, at least for time-being, is balking at further talks.
