WASHINGTON (TNND) — Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries feud over redistricting as the 2026 midterm elections approach.
After launching a redistricting effort in Florida, Jeffries told DeSantis to “F around and find out” in response.
“Our message to Florida Republicans is F around and find out,” Jeffries said, according to Fox News. “If they go down the road of a DeSantis dummy-mander the electoral tide is turning in Florida.”
DeSantis responded by saying Jeffries is more than welcome to come down to Florida.
“Please. Be my guest,” he said. “I will pay for you to come down to Florida to campaign. I’ll put you up in the Florida governor’s mansion. We will take you fishing. There’s nothing that could be better for Republicans in Florida than to see Jeffries everywhere around this state.”
Earlier this year, DeSantis announced a special legislative session on congressional redistricting.
“Every Florida resident deserves to be represented fairly and constitutionally,” DeSantis said in a January press release. “Today, I announced that I will be convening a Special Session of the Legislature focused on redistricting to ensure that Florida’s congressional maps accurately reflect the population of our state and to comply with an upcoming U.S. Supreme Court ruling.”
The feud between DeSantis and Jeffries comes the same week Virginia voters approved a referendum to redraw the state’s congressional maps. The redrawing of the maps eliminate four GOP seats.
