French President Emmanuel Macron arrived at the Maximos Mansion on Saturday, where he was received by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis ahead of a key bilateral meeting.

The talks are expected to culminate in the renewal of the Greece–France defence cooperation agreement, reinforcing strategic ties between the two countries. Joint statements to the media are scheduled following the meeting.

Visit to frigate Kimon

Earlier in the day, the two leaders visited the frigate Kimon at the Port of Piraeus, highlighting the growing defence partnership and naval cooperation between Athens and Paris.

Focus on economic cooperation

Later in the afternoon, Macron and Mitsotakis will head to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, where they are set to address the Greece–France Economic Forum.

The event is organised by the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises in collaboration with the French-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, bringing together leading figures from business and industry.

Strengthening a strategic partnership

Macron’s visit comes at a time of deepening cooperation between Greece and France across defence, energy and investment sectors, reflecting a broader alignment on European security and economic priorities.

The renewal of the defence agreement is expected to further solidify the two countries’ alliance in the Eastern Mediterranean and beyond.
