Lauren Sánchez Bezos made her Met Gala debut in 2024, but this time around, she and her husband Jeff Bezos are footing the bill. On May 4, the couple arrived on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual benefit in New York City, sponsoring the event and serving as this year’s honorary chairs.
Lauren put her own twist on the dress code in a bombshell corset gown that tied into the “Fashion is Art” theme with an unexpected bedazzled detail. Her statuesque midnight blue gown featured a bodycon mermaid silhouette and a plunging sweetheart neckline with diamond and pearl-encrusted straps that draped off her shoulders. She added on a set of sparkling accessories with matching dangling diamond and pearl drop earrings.

The former journalist wore her dark hair in old Hollywood-coded curls that she styled into a deep side part, while her makeup featured her signature smoky eyeshadow, glossy nude pout, and sculpted cheekbones.

Lauren attended her first Met Gala two years ago, walking the red carpet in a strapless Oscar de la Renta gown that looked as if it were made of stained glass. The monochrome design came with a floral pattern, nodding to the “Garden of Time” theme.

Notably, Lauren also wore Oscar de la Renta at her wedding reception, selecting a cocktail dress crafted with 600 yards of hand-sewn chain and 175,000 crystals, according to Vogue. She and Jeff tied the knot in Venice, Italy last summer in a lavish celebration that spanned multiple days.
The 2026 Met Gala is co-chaired by Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, Beyoncé, and Vogue’s global editorial director, Anna Wintour. This year’s host committee is equally stacked with stars: Zoë Kravitz, Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lena Dunham are just a few recognizable members.

Staged by the Met’s Costume Institute, the “Costume Art” exhibit juxtaposes pieces from the museum’s extensive fashion archives with various artworks in its collection. Nearly 400 pieces will be displayed in a new gallery spanning 12,000 square feet, per a press release from the Met.
