BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Donald Trump Jr. are set to make stops in Idaho for upcoming political events and fundraisers.
Walz will deliver keynote remarks at the Frank and Bethine Church Gala fundraiser on March 7 at the Boise Centre, according to the Idaho Democratic Party (IDP). Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. will be the featured guest for the Idaho Majority Club’s (IMC) America 250 Celebration on Feb. 23 at the Boise Centre.
Walz has been Minnesota’s governor since 2018 and was Kamala Harris’ vice presidential nominee in the 2024 presidential election. Walz has faced pushback from the federal government and the Trump administration amid the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents, fraud investigations, and an immigration crackdown focused on the Somali community.
Idaho Democratic Party chair Lauren Necochea said that the Minnesota governor is an embodiment of “what it looks like to stand up and tell the truth.”
“The federal government is weaponizing its power, ignoring court orders, and acting outside the Constitution,” Necochea said. “In Minnesota, Governor Tim Walz has pushed back, demanded accountability, and stood with communities after federal actions led to deadly consequences.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. is no stranger to Idaho, making stops in the Gem State in 2016 and 2020 for fundraisers. Trump Jr. will attend the IMC’s evening event “dedicated to honoring the courage of our Founders, the endurance of our constitutional principles, and the generations of Americans who have safeguarded our freedoms.”
“His voice has been influential in championing liberty, limited government, and the values that define American exceptionalism — themes that resonate deeply as we reflect on 250 years of independence,” the IMC said.
The IMC’s celebration event will begin with a VIP reception at 5 p.m., followed by a main dinner at 6:30 p.m. The IDP’s fundraising event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
