Lara Trump has sparked concern while joining Donald Trump on his visit to China.
The 43-year-old wife of Eric Trump has taken a prominent role during the China visit, where the president, whose worrying three-word confession about his son was exposed by a lip reader, has been carrying out discussions with Xi Jinping throughout a two-day summit. Nevertheless, Lara has stolen the spotlight, prompting suggestions she has become the family’s latest influential figure on the international stage, following her sister-in-law Ivanka Trump’s withdrawal from the political sphere.
While the visit has certainly placed Lara in the limelight, she was met with criticism for her attendance at a state banquet. While Lara joined the president on his trip, his wife Melania Trump stayed at home. It comes after ‘disgusting’ Trump was slammed for a ‘creepy’ comment about Chinese kids as they lined up to greet him.

On X, one social media user suggested, “Something wrong,” alongside a photograph of Lara at the state banquet, which was hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People on May 14. The image was a screenshot from a wider photograph of Lara standing beside President Trump, President Xi Jinping and her husband Eric.

Another remarked on the wider photograph, “Lara, Trump, Xi, Eric. This is not a normal family photo.” A third person shared a closer screenshot of Lara’s arm, which displayed prominent veins. They wrote, “What is this?” Yet another commented on Lara’s appearance, stating, “That lady looks older than my grandma,” reports the Irish Star.

This isn’t the first time social media has discussed Lara’s appearance. On May 2, the Fox News host posted a family portrait showing her, her husband and their two children, Luke, eight, and Carolina, six, at the PGA Tour.
Lara kept her caption simple, writing “PGA at Trump Doral,” marking the event’s return to the president’s Doral golf resort for the first time since 2016. In the family photo, Lara sported a blue tank top paired with a black pleated skirt. She completed her ensemble with a navy ball cap bearing the words “No Days Off,” along with white sneakers and socks.
While the TV personality regularly posts family pictures on her social media accounts, this particular upload sparked harsh criticism in the comments section. Some followers took aim at her high-profile family, while others directed remarks at her physical appearance in the photograph.
One commenter posted, “Part of the Number One Crime Family,” while another added, “Family of ghouls.” A third stated, “These positive comments make me want to barf.” Someone else simply wrote, “Trash,” as another contributed, “useless humanoids.”
Several commenters focused specifically on Lara’s legs in the image, with one questioning, “Are her shoes bigger than her legs, or is it AI? Her body proportions look weird, especially her legs.” Another remarked, “Those are some skinny spider legs.”

Lara was seen stepping off Air Force One with Eric and the 79-year-old president as they arrived in Beijing on Wednesday morning, May 13. She subsequently accompanied her father-in-law to a formal welcome ceremony on Thursday, May 14.
The mother-of-two chose a white fitted dress featuring black polka dots, accessorized with bold black sunglasses as she accompanied Trump and Xi during their tour of Beijing’s ancient Temple of Heaven. Lara styled her blonde hair in relaxed waves that fell past her shoulders. She opted for understated makeup, featuring bronzed cheeks and a peach-toned lip color, showing no visible effects of the long flight.
Nevertheless, Lara’s presence sparked surprising criticism after images of her Beijing arrival started spreading across social media, with commenters drawing comparisons between her and Ivanka.

One X user quipped, “When Lara Trump arrived In China instead of Melania, the Chinese people asked: ‘Wasn’t Tiffany available?’ ‘Is Lara like the Temu Ivanka?’ ‘Is she coming here to buy new body parts?’ ‘Is this her First Communion?’ ‘Can’t she just stay on the plane?'”
