President Donald Trump has sparked intense social media backlash after praising his son, Eric Trump, during a personal tour of ongoing White House ballroom<\/a> renovations. While showing his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, around the complex, the Trump praised his son’s role in the massive construction efforts.<\/p>\n

Trump’s immense praise for his son didn’t sit right with the netizens. Many people on social media joked that Trump is treating the historic White House like a private family business. This online backlash comes at a tough time for the administration.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, a judge officially denied a GOP bill that tried to use $1 billion of taxpayer money <\/a>to pay for security at Trump’s massive new White House ballroom. The judge blocked the funding on technical grounds, according to Mother Jones<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During the tour, Trump also stressed that the project is being funded via private donations and carries a cost of $400 million.<\/p>\n

‘Eric Is A Really Good Builder, He Has The Gene’<\/p>\n

During the family walk, the president took Lara for a tour of the Oval Office. Calling Eric a “fantastic builder”, he praised his son for being deeply involved in managing the complicated White House upgrades.<\/p>\n

He said, “I have to say, Eric Trump<\/a> is a really good builder. He has the gene. He has a gene that I have… he’s done a great job. he’s a fantastic builder. He looked at this, understood it immediately. Look at the parts. Look at the amount of rebar in there. That’s, you know, that’s not a normal situation. This is not what you do for a normal floor.”<\/p>\n

Trump also defended the big building projects, stressing that the changes are needed to create a grand space for formal government events. However, users on X did not agree and flooded the internet with jokes and memes.<\/p>\n

Social Media Users React To Trump’s Praise For Eric<\/p>\n

Trump’s praise for his son Eric triggered a massive debate online. Many also mocked the president for using official government rooms to boast about his family’s construction skills.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the video, one user wrote, “The gene is incredible. Father can identify giraffes. Son can identify giraffes. Many people are saying it’s the strongest giraffe-identification gene ever recorded.”<\/p>\n

Another said, “Eric Trump is dumber than a box of rocks.” While a user questioned, “So, are we now paying Eric, the President’s son, to complete this illegal project? Where is the money going?”<\/p>\n

One user wrote, “He needs to go back to building tacky crappy buildings and leave governing to the other side.”<\/p>\n

A user wrote, “The only thing Eric ever built is a lot of wealth for himself out of illegal inside trading, charity pocketing, and selling dad’s cheap merchandise to the gullible.”<\/p>\n

“Eric is a Trump he’s useless at everything,” noted another. A user joked, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”<\/p>\n

Eric has spent years managing the construction of luxury properties. He has overseen work on big golf courses, high-end hotels, and residential buildings like Trump Tower in New York.<\/p>\n
