A full list of the 18 Republican congressmen who did the right thing is provided by Newsweek House passes Ukraine aid bill: Full list of Republicans who backed it

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a Ukraine aid package in a 226-195 vote on Thursday, seemingly marking a bipartisan break from GOP leadership on the approach to the Eastern European nation’s ongoing war with Russia.

The bill provides more than $1 billion in security and reconstruction assistance to Ukraine and authorizes additional defense loans while also imposing new sanctions on Russia, the Associated Press reports.

The vote was driven by a coalition of nearly all Democrats, and almost 20 Republicans who broke ranks with their party. According to the official House roll call, the 18 GOP lawmakers who supported the measure were:

Don Bacon of Nebraska

Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania

Andrew Garbarino of New York

Carlos Gimenez of Florida

Rob Bresnahan of Pennsylvania

Nick LaLota of New York

Mike Lawler of New York

Michael McCaul of Texas

Mike Carey of Ohio

Jeff Hurd of Colorado

David Joyce of Ohio

Jen Kiggans of Virginia

Max Miller of Ohio

Greg Murphy of North Carolina

Dan Newhouse of Washington

Glenn Thompson of Pennsylvania

Mike Turner of Ohio

Joe Wilson of South Carolina

Kudos to these 18 Republicans willing to challenge their leadership over aid to Ukraine, but a brickbat to the sole Democratic holdout, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who apparently votes against any and all military aid packages out of a misplaced purity principle.

There appear to be at least four other Democrats running against her in the August primary according to Ballotpedia Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District election, 2026 – Ballotpedia.
