Over 15 years after David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin\u2019s The Social Network premiered in theaters, Sony has released the first trailer<\/a> for The Social Reckoning ahead of its theatrical release on October 9th. The follow-up takes place 17 years after the events portrayed in the original film and follows a young Facebook engineer who enlists the help of a Wall Street Journal reporter to expose the platform\u2019s secrets.<\/p>\n

The film stars Jeremy Strong as a much older Mark Zuckerberg (doing a memorable impression of the Meta CEO\u2019s voice), Mikey Madison as Facebook engineer and whistleblower Frances Haugen, and Jeremy Allen White as WSJ reporter Jeff Horwitz. While The Social Network was written by Aaron Sorkin (who earned an Oscar for the original\u2019s adapted screenplay) and directed by David Fincher, the follow-up is both written and directed by Sorkin.<\/p>\n

The new trailer originally debuted at CinemaCon a few months ago where Sorkin told the crowd that \u201ca while back, we told a story about a college kid who built a website in his dorm and connected the world. Well, as you might have noticed, a couple of things have changed since that dream exploded into a global corporation.
