{"id":167414,"date":"2026-07-27T06:07:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T06:07:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/167414\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T06:07:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T06:07:15","slug":"jeffries-sidesteps-question-on-nj-voting-rolls-pivoting-to-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/167414\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeffries sidesteps question on NJ voting rolls pivoting to Trump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>House Minority Leader<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hakeem-jeffries\/\"> Hakeem Jeffries<\/a> (D-NY) sidestepped a question about New Jersey\u2019s disclosure that thousands of noncitizens were mistakenly registered to vote, instead criticizing President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4663636\/trump-administration-mail-in-voting-appeals-court\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> and Republicans over election messaging.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI continue to have confidence in state and local authorities in making sure that there\u2019s going to be a free and fair election in November,\u201d Jeffries said on CNN\u2019s State of the Union Sunday. \u201cIf modest or minor challenges emerge, such as the one that was disclosed voluntarily by the authorities in New Jersey, that it is immediately corrected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries then pivoted to criticize Trump and Republicans, accusing them of making voter suppression an \u201celectoral strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUnfortunately, what we\u2019ve seen from Donald Trump is that in this particular case, Republicans have adopted voter suppression as an electoral strategy because they have failed to actually deliver on making life more affordable for the American people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 NEW: CNN\u2019s Dana Bash just forced Hakeem Jeffries to face the one thing Democrats swore never happens.<\/p>\n<p>Bash: New Jersey found 6,600 noncitizens on the voter rolls. 400 of them actually voted.<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries\u2019 response?
