Nvidia is reportedly planning to invest $250 billion along with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI in a massive data center project. Nvidia has also announced its investment of $1 billion in an AI project by South Korean internet company Naver over the weekend.<\/p>\n
According to Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Naver will issue 7.2 million new shares to Nvidia to raise the money, making Nvidia one of Naver\u2019s largest shareholders with roughly a 4.5% stake. The investment will help expand Naver\u2019s AI data center in Sejong, South Korea. After the news broke out, Naver\u2019s share jumped more than 10%. The companies said that they are in talks with Brookfield, a U.S.-based private equity firm to fund around $9 billion for the project while Naver will fund the rest.<\/p>\n READ: Nvidia CEO says the US has nothing to fear from China\u2019s open-source AI models<\/a> (July 23, 2026)<\/p>\n \u201cTogether, Naver, Nvidia and Brookfield are building sovereign AI infrastructure at the scale needed to fuel Korea\u2019s startups and industries,\u201d Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a joint statement released by Naver on Sunday.<\/p>\n In the first half of 2027, Nvidia will provide GPUs for the AI data center of capacity 55 megawatts which later increased to 100 megawatts at a later stage. It is expected to provide 200 megawatts GPUs in 2028 and eventually expand to a gigawatt scale project.<\/p>\n In a separate deal, Nvidia is in advanced talks with Open AI to help finance one of the largest AI infrastructure projects. According to Reuters<\/a>, Nvidia will provide a financial guarantee worth about $250 billion to support OpenAI\u2019s plan to lease a 10 gigawatts AI data center being built by SoftBank\u2019s energy division in Southern Ohio. He further added that the expected power of 800 megawatts will be controlled by the U.S. government and funded separately by Japan under a recent trade deal, tied to Tokyo\u2019s pledge to invest<\/a> $33 billion in a natural gas plant.<\/p>\n Nvidia is not just selling chips anymore. It understands the market and studies the pattern.
