WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 President Donald Trump on Saturday night said he agreed to cancel a planned U.S. military strike against Iran after Tehran and several Middle Eastern nations requested more time to finalize a broader agreement that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and address Iran’s nuclear program.<\/p>\n
Trump said the U.S. was “locked and loaded and ready to go” with military force against Iran “at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II.”<\/p>\n
“Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.<\/p>\n
The president said the proposed agreement would include the “immediate, complete, and total” reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat.<\/p>\n
“Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL,” Trump wrote, adding that Israel joined the U.S. in supporting the delay while negotiations continue.<\/p>\n
Neither Iran nor Israeli officials immediately confirmed Trump’s account or announced an agreement. The White House also did not release additional details about the reported negotiations, including whether a formal ceasefire or written framework had been reached.<\/p>\n
Trump urged all parties to move quickly to finalize an agreement. <\/p>\n
