Most of the stories about Jeff Bezos these days have to do with his celebrity status and not his businesses. After he married Lauren S\u00e1nchez Bezos<\/a> in a lavish wedding in Venice, the couple has sponsored the Met Gala and been very visible, attending Oscar’s afterparties and living a big celebrity life. But Bezos<\/a> is still a billionaire and the founder of Amazon<\/a>. So, it should not be a surprise to get actual financial news for him. <\/p>\n

CNBC is reporting that Bezos filed plans to sell 15 million Amazon shares, which are worth roughly $4.1 billion. It comes after the company’s earnings set the stock to a record high, with a market value for the company above $3 trillion. Basically, a lot of money, which is why Bezos seems to be selling now. <\/p>\n

Bezos disclosed the planned sale under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted on Nov. 14, 2025. It took place on Monday, August 3, through Morgan Stanley. <\/p>\n

Amazon’s stronger-than-expected growth reportedly had to do with it’s the strength of its cloud computing business. In an interview with Fortune<\/a>,<\/a> Bezos recently revealed that Amazon’s custom chip business is set to become one of its most durable businesses. <\/p>\n

The billionaire even placed the chip business alongside Marketplace, Prime, and Amazon Web Services as a core pillar of the company. <\/p>\n

“A few of our offerings have become durable pillars, things like Marketplace and Prime and AWS,” Bezos told Fortune. “What I see right now is that our chips business, our silicon business, is lining up to be our next pillar.” <\/p>\n

Bezos’ pillar discussion traces back to a 2014 letter to shareholders<\/a>, where he described four characteristics of a “dreamy” business: “Customers love it, it can grow to very large size, it has strong returns on capital, and it’s durable in time \u2014 with the potential to endure for decades.” <\/p>\n

AWS, Marketplace, and Prime are considered the first three pillars for Amazon. There have been questions about what the fourth pillar would be for years. Now, it seems like the answer is chips. <\/p>\n

The company disclosed revenue<\/a> for its data center chips for the first time this year, showing that the chips have grown to a combined annual run rate of more than $20 billion<\/a>. <\/p>\n

It all comes after reports that there might be issues in his marriage<\/a> already. In January 2026, sources told Hollywood insider Rob Shuter that Amazon founder has had a “hard time keeping up with his boundlessly energetic wife.” <\/p>\n

“Lauren’s energy is non-stop,” one source told Naughty But Nice<\/a>. Describing the couple’s Christmas holidays, the source added, “She was jumping, dancing, laughing \u2014 and Jeff was hanging on for dear life. He looked wiped.” <\/p>\n

Another insider added that while Bezos is “happy” with S\u00e1nchez Bezos, “he’s clearly worn out trying to match her.” <\/p>\n
