{"id":185876,"date":"2026-08-12T04:18:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T04:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/185876\/"},"modified":"2026-08-12T04:18:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T04:18:07","slug":"mark-zuckerberg-is-100-right-on-the-need-to-ease-access-to-us-open-source-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/185876\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Zuckerberg is 100% right on the need to ease access to US open-source AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Zuckerberg is entirely right to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/10\/us-news\/meta-launches-new-ai-in-push-for-best-open-source-model-to-beat-china\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">push for easing access to US open-source AI models<\/a> \u2014 not least because restrictions hand even the American market to Chinese AIs.<\/p>\n<p>The Meta CEO\u2019s larger points in the manifesto he dropped on Monday also ring generally true: All humanity will be far better served with \u201cbalance of power as the foundation of safety\u201d rather than pretending some central authority can guarantee AI will be good for us.<\/p>\n<p>As he mildly notes: \u201cHistorically, hoping that an absolute power will benevolently provide for humanity if sufficiently enlightened has not led to safe or positive outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And let\u2019s be clear: <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/10\/us-news\/sen-bernie-sanders-demands-ceos-pause-ai-development-in-the-interest-of-humanity\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sen.
