{"id":192539,"date":"2026-08-18T02:05:42","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T02:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/192539\/"},"modified":"2026-08-18T02:05:42","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T02:05:42","slug":"report-british-pm-exchanged-messages-with-impostor-of-trumps-chief-of-staff-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/192539\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: British PM exchanged messages with impostor of Trump\u2019s chief of staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British prime minister reportedly exchanged messages with someone impersonating Trump\u2019s chief of staff<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/056e7e21-e408-46df-8166-4d7c483923b8_1546533418.jpg\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\" alt=\"Associated Press\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>LONDON \u2014<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"0\">British Prime Minister Andy Burnham exchanged messages with an impostor posing as U.S. President Donald Trump&#8217;s chief of staff, according to reports published Monday.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"1\">Related video above: Who is Andy Burnham?<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\">A spokesperson for Burnham declined to comment, saying it was policy not to discuss \u201cnational security matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">Politico cited four unnamed officials in first reporting that Burnham thought he was messaging with Susie Wiles before he became suspicious and cut off communications.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">Last year, the U.S. government investigated a series of messages that elected officials, business executives and other prominent figures in the U.S. received messages from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcci.com\/article\/susie-wiles-impersonation-investigation\/64926949\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">someone posing as Wiles.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"5\">Soon after those incidents, the State Department warned U.S. diplomats of attempts to impersonate Secretary of State Marco Rubio and possibly other officials using artificial intelligence. The warning followed the discovery that an impostor posing as Rubio had attempted to reach out to at least three foreign ministers, a U.S. senator and a governor.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"6\">The FBI had warned of \u201cmalicious actors\u201d misusing AI to impersonate senior U.S. government officials.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"7\">Burnham, who became prime minister less than a month ago, has tried to forge good ties with the White House.
