French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to the first international summit dedicated to space issues, which will be held in Paris on September 9\u201310, the Georgian government\u2019s administration said.<\/p>\n
France and Germany will co-chair the summit, which will focus on science, research, security and defense.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, more than ever, space represents a major vector of power and prosperity. The dynamism of industrial actors, the growing civilian and military dual-use nature of the sector, and intensified competition require coordinated action to fully realize its technological potential and accelerate the sustainable and responsible development of the space economy,\u201d French President Emmanuel Macron said in his official invitation to Kobakhidze.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe summit will provide an opportunity to highlight the importance of dialogue and cooperation not only between states, but also between companies and multilateral actors. It is our duty, from today onward, to ensure the sustainability of space activities for the benefit of our common prosperity and future generations,\u201d Macron said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will also have the opportunity to showcase the expertise of our space industries and agencies, as well as the high standards of our cooperation at scientific, industrial, technical and economic levels,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is particularly important for us to define the format of the summit together with you and the other invited countries, so that the event concludes with strong statements and concrete steps,\u201d Macron said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur aim is to make this meeting an outstanding opportunity to reaffirm the importance of space-related challenges and to support the multilateral cooperation in space that is more necessary today than ever,\u201d the French president said.<\/p>\n
