European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has reiterated Europe\u2019s support for Ukraine, paying tribute to the country\u2019s people and their sacrifices in a message marking Ukrainian Independence Day.<\/p>\n

In a video message posted today, Metsola congratulated Ukrainians on the anniversary of their country\u2019s independence, describing the occasion as both a celebration and a moment to reflect on everything Ukrainians have sacrificed for their freedom.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day, Ukrainians both on and off the battlefield are demonstrating their strength, their resilience and their incredible courage to the world,\u201d Metsola said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour actions teach us all the true meaning of independence.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Maltese European Parliament President went on to pledge that the institution would continue backing Ukraine in its fight for freedom, saying it had stood alongside the country \u201cfrom day one\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can rely on the European Parliament to continue standing with you in your fight for freedom,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Metsola also reaffirmed her support for Ukraine\u2019s European ambitions, saying the Parliament would \u201ckeep speaking up for Ukraine\u2019s rightful place in the European Union.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her message ended on a hopeful note, looking towards a future in which Ukraine and the rest of Europe can once again live in peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo on this Independence Day of Ukraine, Europe joins Ukrainians everywhere in looking ahead to a brighter European future where we can once again live in peace,\u201d Metsola said.<\/p>\n

Ukraine marks its Independence Day on 24th August, commemorating its declaration of independence in 1991.<\/p>\n
