Speaking to UK broadcaster ITV, the UK prime minister said, \u201cI\u2019m fed up with the fact that families across the country see their bills go up and down on energy, businesses\u2019 bills go up and down on energy because of the actions of Putin or Trump across the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyloading\" data-lazy-type=\"lazyloading-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/track_1x1.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/track_1x1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1px\" height=\"1px\" style=\"display:none;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>He also disagreed with Trump over the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, saying that the strikes \u201cshouldn\u2019t be happening\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat should stop \u2013 that\u2019s my strong view \u2013 and therefore, the question isn\u2019t a technical one of whether it\u2019s a breach of the agreement or not,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Both the US and Israel have insisted that Lebanon is not covered by the ceasefire agreement with Iran, while Tehran said that it is.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the ceasefire agreement, Starmer said, \u201cWe haven\u2019t all got access to all the details of the ceasefire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me be really clear about it \u2013 they\u2019re wrong,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Starmer also held a conversation with <a rel=\"noamphtml nofollow noopener\" class=\"keywordtourl\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/about\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a> on Thursday regarding military capabilities and the logistics of moving vessels through the Strait \u2060of \u200bHormuz amid the ongoing ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been pulling together a coalition \u200bof \u200bcountries \u2026 working on a political, \u2060diplomatic plan, but also looking at military capabilities and \u2026 the \u200clogistics of actually moving vessels through the Strait,\u201d the UK PM said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was the focus of the discussion last night \u2013 reflection on \u2060what I\u2019ve \u2060been discussing here, but also that focus on a practical \u2060plan \u200cin relation to \u200bnavigation through the Strait,\u201d he said, without providing further details.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he raised US threats of \u200cwithdrawing from \u200bNATO with \u200bTrump, \u200bStarmer did not answer directly but said the alliance \u200bwas in both the U.S. \u2060and Europe\u2019s interests.<\/p>\n<p>(With inputs from Reuters)<\/p>\n<p>Expand<\/p>\n<p class=\"author-bio\"> The Express Global Desk at The Indian Express delivers authoritative, verified, and context-driven coverage of key international developments shaping global politics, policy, and migration trends.
