Jason Watson, 40, is facing several charges, including three violations of Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for alleged \u201ccontemptuous\u201d comments about the president. He has served in the Air Force for 17 years.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Maj. Jason Watson, 40, is facing several charges, including three violations of Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for alleged \u201ccontemptuous\u201d comments about the president.(Source: CNN)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Chris Mutimer, one of Watson\u2019s attorneys, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/24\/us\/video\/ebof-air-force-major-jason-watson-charges-attorney-reacts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/24\/us\/video\/ebof-air-force-major-jason-watson-charges-attorney-reacts\">told CNN<\/a> his client is the first major in the history of the military to be charged under Article 88.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe truly believes in everything about our Constitution and what it represents and the oath that he swore,\u201d Mutimer said. \u201cHe stands by the fact that he did this so others wouldn\u2019t have to and to share that to anyone who\u2019s scared and feels alone that they are not alone.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/24\/politics\/us-airman-charged-trump-criticism-article-88\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/24\/politics\/us-airman-charged-trump-criticism-article-88\">CNN reports<\/a> Watson was first arrested in July while protesting in uniform at the Capitol. He was arrested again last Tuesday just days after criticizing Trump during a CNN interview.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cNot only is [Trump] a failure as president, he is flagrantly violating the Constitution, breaking the law, engaged in rampant corruption and is killing Americans,\u201d said Watson in the interview. \u201cThat is unacceptable to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Watson faces the possibility of years in jail, being discharged from the military and loss of pay and benefits, Mutimer says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Air Force issued a statement last Wednesday saying Watson is presumed innocent.
