{"id":201218,"date":"2026-08-25T08:05:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T08:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/201218\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T08:05:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T08:05:10","slug":"us-will-not-rule-out-using-military-force-in-strait-of-hormuz-us-defense-secretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/201218\/","title":{"rendered":"US will not rule out using military force in Strait of Hormuz: US Defense Secretary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Monday that the Trump administration is not ruling out the use of military force against Iran, even after Washington announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.egyptindependent.com\/iran-in-full-scale-war-says-president-as-fresh-us-sanctions-loom\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cdecisive economic attack\u201d on Tehran.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not ruling out, under any circumstances, the use of military strikes anywhere in the Strait of Hormuz or throughout Iran,\u201d Hegseth told reporters, adding that Tehran cannot withstand the economic pressure being imposed on it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.egyptindependent.com\/iranian-currency-drops-to-record-low-as-us-plans-to-tighten-sanctions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions<\/a> on nearly 60 entities, individuals, and vessels linked to Iran in the nuclear energy, missile, cyber, and oil sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The Treasury Department targeted five sectors for potential secondary sanctions: digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping.<\/p>\n<p>It also suspended general licenses that had allowed certain financial transactions to Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The US Treasury Secretary said, \u201cPresident Trump is in telephone conversations with world leaders to sever economic ties with Iran.
