We are talking about companies like Salesforce, ServiceNow, Infosys, TCS and other software giants whose businesses have traditionally depended on companies paying for software that their employees use every day.

The capabilities of Claude and specialized tools like Claude Cowork brought fears of what Silicon Valley started calling a “SaaSpocalypse”. Investors began questioning whether, if AI is capable of doing more and more tasks on its own, it could eat into the traditional software business. So, is Claude really here to eat up SaaS? Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei says no.

“We’re not interested in destroying anyone,” Amodei said in a CNBC interview. He argues that AI should be viewed as a “very positive sum thing”, where the technology creates new value and the gains are shared among the companies and people involved.

Amodei’s comments come against the backdrop of Anthropic’s expanding partnership with Salesforce, one of the biggest names in the SaaS industry. The two companies have now introduced “Claudeforce”, bringing Claude into Salesforce’s software and workflows. But the partnership comes at an interesting time for the software industry, which has been under pressure as investors worry that increasingly capable AI agents could reduce the need for traditional software.

But Anthropic’s CEO says that is not the plan. Instead of Claude replacing Salesforce, the two companies have joined hands through Claudeforce to make AI and SaaS work together. “Our philosophy always has been that we want to work with our customers, we want to empower our customers to share these gains with us,” says Amodei.

As part of the partnership, He suggests that Claude can work with information stored in Salesforce to help employees with tasks such as reviewing customers, deals and sales pipelines. For example, a salesperson could ask Claude which deals are at risk and why, rather than manually going through different Salesforce screens and reports.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff also highlighted the two-way nature of the partnership during the interview. He explained that Salesforce is bringing Claude into its Agentforce platform, while Anthropic’s AI models will work with Salesforce’s enterprise data and software. “It’s really about the combination of deterministic systems with probabilistic systems,” he told CNBC.

Benioff says this is less about replacing software and more about changing how people use it. He argues that Salesforce’s data, workflows and business systems can work alongside AI, with Claude making it easier for employees to find information and get work done. “We are combining Claude’s extraordinary intelligence and reasoning with Salesforce’s trusted data and applications and workflows and business rules and governance,” he said.

– Ends

Published By:

Divya Bhati

Published On:

Aug 27, 2026 18:52 IST

At the start of 2026, Anthropic’s increasingly capable Claude AI agents brought a rude shock to the SaaS…

[152
2680,91444,6803,79988,587,1164,91441,586,8456,9563,6217,37629,91442,2198,91443
post-204512","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dario-amodei","tag-ai-agents","tag-ai-and-saas","tag-ai-disruption","tag-ai-software","tag-anthropic","tag-claude","tag-claudeforce","tag-dario-amodei","tag-enterprise-ai","tag-marc-benioff","tag-saas","tag-saas-stocks","tag-saaspocalypse","tag-salesforce","tag-salesforce-agentforce
["GET
