In a rare move, the company disclosed the activity \u201cin the interest of transparency,\u201d marking its first buyback since May 2024.<\/p>\n

In his first annual letter as CEO, Abel explained that repurchases allow shareholders to \u201cown an incrementally larger piece of Berkshire\u2019s business, without deploying any additional capital of their own.\u201d<\/p>\n

This strategy stands out even more given Berkshire\u2019s track record. Past investments, such as its stake in Japanese trading houses in 2020, generated around $24 billion in gains.<\/p>\n

Similarly, its stock purchases, including a $563 million investment in companies like Occidental Petroleum, Sirius XM, and VeriSign, have often pushed prices higher.<\/p>\n
