It\u2019s a new AI lab that aims to help engineers design and manufacture high-tech products. In June, Prometheus announced it had raised $12 billion at a valuation of $41 billion, and for the first time revealed new details of its work. \u201cWe\u2019re building tools that will make it much easier for engineers to design physical objects,\u201d Bezos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/06\/11\/project-prometheus-bezos-bajaj-live-updates.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told CNBC<\/a> at the time, claiming that Prometheus was making progress toward \u201ca set of tools that could actually do engineering\u2014an artificial general engineer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">It&#8217;s still early days, but Bezos knows more than most AI founders about how to turn bits on a screen into moving atoms in the real world. He is \u201ca singular strategist of the physical economy,\u201d says Vik Bajaj, Bezos\u2019 co-founder and co-CEO at Prometheus. \u201cWhat we are trying to do now is metaphorically related\u201d to Amazon\u2019s success in e-commerce, Bajaj says. \u201cCan we take the entire physical design cycle and understand it end to end, represented using machine learning technologies?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-element\" class=\"rich-text mb-6 font-graphik text-body-large text-black-coffee focus-visible:outline focus-visible:outline-black-coffee focus-visible:outline-2 focus-visible:outline-offset-2 focus-visible:shadow-focus-color text-left\">Success would mean translating digital AI into material advances that, in a best-case scenario, could result in a rapid acceleration of scientific progress.
