Gabe Evans is not shying away his ties to the White House as he seeks reelection.

Sixty-one percent of Latino voters in the district said they disapprove of the president while 37% said they approve of him, according to a new poll paid for by the Colorado Latino Policy Agenda.

The Agenda is an annual polling initiative backed by liberal-leaning Hispanic advocacy groups: Voces United de las Montañas and the Colorado Organization for Latino Opportunity and Reproductive Rights.

The poll was conducted by BSP Research, a Latino-owned firm that typically works for Democrats, from July 1 through Aug.11 among 1,606 Latino registered voters across Colorado. It included an oversample of 288 Latino voters in the 8th District, where about 40% of the population is Hispanic.

Despite its partisan clients, BSP Research is considered a reputable pollster that accurately measures voter opinions.

The entire poll had a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points while the 8th District results had 5.8 percentage point margin of error since it was a smaller sample of voters.

In the summer of 2025, 48% of Latino voters in the district said they disapproved of Trump. And 54% of Latino voters in the district told BSP Research that they approved of Trump’s job performance while 42% said they disapproved.

Asked again this summer, 70% said they disapproved of Trump’s job performance while 29% said they approved.

“A pretty significant shift.” Gabe Sanchez, a pollster for BSP Research, said during a news conference Tuesday. “When you see numbers jump over 10% in one year, that’s pretty statistically significant.”

In 2016, Trump won the district by 2 percentage points. In 2020, Democrat Joe Biden won by 5 points, according to an analysis by The Downballot. And in 2024, Trump again won by 2 points — a larger margin of victory than Evans’, who unseated Democratic incumbent Yadira Caraveo by less than a percentage point.

When it came to how voters view Evans, 34% said in this year’s Latino Policy Agenda poll that they disapproved of him while 42% said they approved of him and 24% said they didn’t know how they felt about him.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="800" data-attachment-id="500580" data-permalink="https://coloradosun.com/gabe-evans-presser-9/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/newspack-coloradosun.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/gabe_evans_presser_jp-10-scaled.jpg?fit=2560%2C1708&ssl=1" data-orig-size="2560,1708" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"1.8","credit":"Jesse Paul","camera":"ILCE-7RM3","caption":"U.S. Rep.
